Antik Batik

*ps* pls help vote on the poll on the left sidebar for my school project if you have a moment to spare :) each vote would really help me !
for the whole moment I've actively blogged, I've never really talked much about the things in my country. I mean I give some coverage of the bazaars and events that happen, but that's only when it's related to fashion.
Last week was an important national proclamation called "Hari Kartini". That day was dedicated for Raden Ayu Kartini. If you're wondering who she is, well she's one person all Indonesian women should thank for. So today, I'm dedicating this post to her deeds of women's rights for Indonesians.

**of course i wouldnt be throwing you a pile of history cards -ive had enough of history during my GCSE days anyway- the outfit and stuff im sharing is very much related to kartini**

i feel that flickr is making my photos not as good when i post em up..they look sorta cracked..anybody recommend me other good picture uploaders?
please dont say photobucket or tinypic.. i love photobucket, but their bandwidth limit will fuck my blog up and tinypic loads pics for centuries..

the dress was like 20cm below my knees when i bought it.. so i brought it to the tailor and cut it cut off all the way to mid-thighs ! got this tiered lace skirt from Heritage outlet at Bandung for around $9..not bad at all..

still on Kartini, I went to a pre-kinder school above the supermarket I usually go when I'm short of food. Turns out they were having some kartini day event too.. I couldn't resist taking some snapshots of them in some of Indonesia's many traditional clothing ! hope it gives you a nice idea of the clothing styles we have here :)

Dusk & Dawn

so what makes a good party for you? well here's the breakdown for me.. food? nah, even pizza or indomie instant noodles will do. music? free downloads on the iPod. goodie bags? hellowww its 2010! so then what? well, to me what matters most is the companion and attendance of your loved ones. food, music, drinks, etc are just the extras that you can buy with money. but friends and family? they're two priceless things not even Bill Gates can buy.

this is why i enjoyed my friday night at my pal's birthday dinner. its small, but packed with lots of smiles and laughters. and of course, nice food and cocktails "up-ed" the extras factors :) sad that i couldn't stay until the candle blowing session because i had another party afterwards.

3.1 Phillip Lim dress, Zara blazer, gifted necklace, Forever21 belt, peep toe Louboutin.

last week i got a sampler false eyelash package from Revlon. they sent me three boxes ! I tried out the natural one (which had 2 pairs in one box) and i totally fell in love the second they got glued to my lids. Actually they suit my eye shape better than the Shu Uemura ones I used back then. The self-adhesive was also strong enough so I didnt need to put extra glue.

i wish i could have these lashes permanently planted..

and there's the comparison between my short natural ones with the falsies..

here's some pics from the party.. not much though..

escargots wrapped in pastry stuff..

gave my friend's portrait a bokeh effect.. i really loved it :)

happy birthday to my dear friend once again :D

feels like elsewhere...

rustic wood, abraded gold frames, and candles are just some words I can come up to describe this amazing place I went. As a regular culinary trip-goer, finding a good place for me to chill ain't an easy job. most times, the place is beautifully furnished but the nibbles can't keep up my tongue's standards. on the other hand when the food satifies me, the place doesnt feel snug. and so after a search throughout jakarta, I managed to find an A++ place to add to my top places to dine. say hi to Bibliotheque...

Bibliotheque represented its meaning very well.. for those who arent aware, bibliotheque is french for library :)

im in love with these mirrors..
latest addition to my growing tshirt collection :) dont you love the mini rosettes? i treat my tshirts like my shoes. i never get rid of them..
i feel like harry potter..
moschino cheap&chic tshirt, Bebe skirt, unbranded tights, mulberry bayswater bag (not shown in this pic), random bangles, Salvatore Ferragamo flats

shall I bombard you with some pictures that'll make you drool now?
Bibliotheque Mixed Greens with Foie Gras on French Bread (that's the best part)
left: deep fried mushroom, right: parcel john dory
Mixed Grill plate with Briyani Rice & Pita Bread
what a coincidence that the couch compliments my black and white outfit :D
photos of me courtesy of Ayu. other non-portraits are snapped by myself..
like the place? visit Bibliotheque at Sampoerna Strategic Square. ps this post is NOT (read: NOT) a promotional special feature or whatever post. i post it just because I thought it's good to share :)
