APRIL UPDATE

Not sure when this goes online but I am typing this up on a Saturday night. I saw Captain America earlier today and kept thinking about Agent Romanoff's mid length hair and how did Nick Fury came back from the dead (I desperately needed to go to the toilet during that segment)..

Anyhow, enough on the Captain America random thoughts. FINALLY sharing my current favorite jeans on the blog today! I think it made a couple of appearances through my Instagram but  I never managed to get it on the blog.. 95%of My free time when I am not attending my clients or not replying my clients' queries is now for Denzel (the other 5% is doing random stuff like playing Cookie Run par example - hey! We humans all need some time for a little randomness that makes us happy). I was on the roof per usual doing my outfit photos and my son came with my helper .. so I thought it'll be nice to have non-iphone-front-camera shots together once in every while right?

MINI DARK RINSE

To me, the journey of finding a pair of comfy denim shorts has been a long one. I've found my favorite distressed version, a light washed one, the tight fitted white pair.. but never have I thought of finding the perfect dark wash denim shorts. That is, until I saw these pair from Gap I'm wearing today and I immediately thought "ahh these will definitely come in handy in my 'daily drawer' section". and indeed.. I wore these shorts for the next few days! This last look for my collaboration with GAP Styld.by is one of the many looks I've already created with these shorts..

OXBLOOD

I purchased this oxblood red full skirt when I was still pregnant and despite me trying to figure out some way to incorporate this into my maternity wardrobe, I failed. When the package arrived (which always comes really late in Indonesia by the way...) my bump had already grown into a size that could no longer fit into the skirt. I even tried to hide the unzipped zippers with a belt, still failed. Seeing how desperate I was to twirl around with this skirt, you could guess that this was the one item I grabbed when I was first allowed to get out of the house ! My figure is still slightly funny proportion-wise but so far this light tank and heavy skirt combo makes my figure alot better in sight..

IN MY MIND...

Things currently and constantly in my mind lately : It's already mid-April.. My kid is gonna pop by late June/early July.. My assistant is taking a little break (sorry for the late email replies!).. I'm thinking of how to post during my confinement period (that's when I'll be staying home for a full month after giving birth, eating all sorts of herbs and weird stuff, not washing my hair for a long period - errrr).. I still don't have my baby's name.. Trying to stay on top of work and blogging all this time !

HAPPINESS

This dress I'm wearing today literally screams "H A P P Y". I opened my package from my friend, Gloria, who designed this and I loved it the second I unfold it. I don't usually like piling on so many different colors but the dress somehow pushes me to add even more colors for the look (ie. red necklace, yellow bangle, turqouise bag.. Almost went with my red pointed pumps, but I 'stopped'). I've posted a little sneak peak of the dress a couple months ago on Instagram but this never actually made it to a proper photoshoot for the blog. So here it goes !

NEOPRENE

Ever since the sports luxe trend became a hit, one of the pieces on my wishlist was a neoprene piece (neoprene is the fabric usually made for scuba suits by the way..) To be honest, I almost gave up on finding a piece that suited my style. Almost everything I saw was either too Dolphin-Diving-Club looking or it was too body skimming (read: not flattering for my no where near victoria secret angel body). I gave up and honestly I almost forgot about that trend I loved.. That is until I saw this blinding neon pink scuba dress on PICNIC. The webstore that seems to be fulfilling every other trend wishlists of mine, has done it again. It's snug on the top half and extra poofy on the bottom for that perfect ladylike dose.

GOLDEN LIGHT

I always feel weird when I'm out wearing maxiskirts. I look in the mirror and I feel taller, but then I go out and I feel weird again.. And throughout the day when I see a glance of my reflection somewhere, I feel nice and tall again. I don't know. Maybe it's because throughout my entire life, jeans and gowns are the only long-length pieces I'm accustomed with..

STUCK IN 50s

polkadots and mid length skirts.. Not the usual cup of tea you see in my blog, but the thing is that I've been sandwhich-ed with old photos from the 50s. and the longer I stare at those pictures, the more I wanted my own longer length a-line skirt. I browse online like I usually do and I'm glad that Vobee had this pretty bright blue version in stock.

JUMPER

I am so glad that there was a holiday on Wednesday. I needed to catch up on a lot of emails and I just got the right amount of time to create this friday post. I have been wearing a lot of skirts lately. Not only because of the ventilation it gives from the bottom but it seems that my girly cues from my teen days are coming back (in a good way).

KEEP CALM AND ....

Ever since the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, I have been overly swamped with "keep calm and ....." images. One of those many 'keep calm' photos said 'keep calm and eat cake'. Well, I don't know if this applies to you but eating cake (..or eating any kind of good food really) does calms me down.
Last week was the 2nd annual Fimela Dress Up day. As you can probably tell, there were a hell lot of cakes but that's not the main point.. There were also LOTS of clothes, accessories, and shoes from Kate Spade, Hermès, Cotton Ink, MILCAH, Nikicio, Moscino, and.. the list goes on! There wasn't as much fashion bloggers as there was in the last Dress Up Day, but I was happy enough to have made new friends who also share the love of eating..

SUMMER SAMBA

I have a couple of peplum tops but I keep going back to this one for no reason. I guess it's because that it's white and white feels right for most of the time here.. Instead of doing a neutral colored look like last time, I used the white piece as a blank canvas for bright add ons.. The bag was one of my birthday gifts and I haven't stop carrying it since. It's locally made with satin-ny fabric and it's huge enough to fit it my canon 5D..

VIOLETS ARE BLUE

Any close relative or friend of mine know that I am a die hard purple lover. Being a color that comes from red and blue, I find that purple has both warm and cool properties. To me, purple is my color of versatility. I find it easiest to dress down or dress up in purple. I also find it easy to mix purple things into my outfit.. and last but not least, purple seems like a good blend of feminism and edge in one shade. Glad that I finally managed to create my head to toe purple look now !

BOOTCUT

I am glad that non-skinny jeans are making a comeback. Whether it's shredded, boyfriend, flared, patched, whatever variety there are out in the world.. It's refreshing to see new silhouettes and colors of the classic item. I find that boot cut jeans are actually very flattering for people of all shapes & sizes. However, since I usually wear a loose top, wearing another baggy bottom doesn't really fit the proportion math. Hence I wear skinny bottoms much more often. These Bettina Liano pairs are different though. They're nicely fitted on the top and they flare out nicely on the calves.. allowing me to wear my favorite loose blouses with them.

MUST LOVE DOGS

I wished that parks (..instead of the many malls) here existed so that I could take my Hugo and Simba for a walk every afternoon. Not only I can spend time with my dogs, I might just as well loose some belly fat. I made it seem as if I dog-walked in heels and boucle shorts, but I didn't. Perhaps I would if I lived overseas. Hugo was barking loudly with his big doe eyes as I head for the door and I couldn't leave him just like that. So I took him with me for a little outfit photo session.

MARCH SHOWERS

I can't believe March went away just like that. It's already the 28th today ! Last week was also probably the last day I could afford wearing leather pants in Jakarta this year. That day, it was oddly cold (as in cold for Jakarta weather). The sun was never out and it even drizzled when Christy and I shot these photos.

FULLY WHITE

28 March 2010 marks the date I got my first dslr camera. From that day, I discovered a relationship with cameras that I never thought I could have. As a blogger, my camera(s) have become a part of my daily life, carting them pretty much wherever my feet takes me. You all know how generic camera bags are ugly (sorry, can't find a better word than that!). My only solution to keep those ugly totes at bay is to stash my DSLR in my giant bag or simply place the strap over my shoulders, in which both methods are prone to bumps and collision.
For two years I've searched stylish alternatives for my DSLR and a couple weeks ago, Kipling Indonesia notified me that Style Scrapbook's Camera Bags are finally coming to Jakarta. I'm glad that my EOS is finally getting a better 'moveable home'..

STRANGE CREATURES

We bloggers are strange creatures. We take photos of our food before they touch our mouth no matter how hungry we are… We pose around public places while passersby give us that ‘what the heck’ look… AND on top of that, we tote our big DSLR cameras everywhere. Sometimes, even I can’t help but call myself a weirdo for doing all these things. Well, except for the last bit.
I have been really lazy when it comes to taking my DSLR ever since I have a compact camera alternative that easily fits into the tiniest clutch I own. It’s not because of the weight or size of the camera, but it’s because I got no stylish bag for it. A woman deserves to look good at all times right? However, today was an exception because I now have Style Scrapbook x Kipling’s camera bag courtesy of Kipling Indonesia.

SHINY, SHIMMERING, AND SPLENDID

One of the best ways to take a monochrome outfit to the next level is to play with textures. When the word 'texture' comes out, people often imagine adding heavyweight fabrics such as suede or leather to their look. These two are great materials but they're not really realistic for someone who lives in the tropics like me. So... how to play with textures in the heat then?

The answer is simple; Buy pieces made with multiple types of lightweight fabric. Take cues from local brand, Cotton Ink. Their latest Waterfall Jacket collection features 2 different textures on one outerwear. Some linen, some satin, but mine's all cotton, one type woven and the other jersey. Pop the jacket over your regular outfits, and ta-da texture play at ease.

GINGERBREAD

this outfit was inspired by the.. gingerbread. I found a childhood picture of me standing nearby a giant gingerbread house and the next day I felt like wearing goldish-browns and reds all at once. very random I know.. The tank top from Stitch N Co was one of those pieces that'd make a perfect beach cover up. Covers the bottoms just nice (if you're about my height, or shorter of course) but not too long that it becomes an odd-length piece.

LE CARRÉ

I have a couple of "life-stories" to share before I talk about my outfit for the Paris Mon Ami event from my previous post.. God knows how thankful I am at this point of my life. I feel that I am truly blessed by all the great opportunities and occasions that I've encountered for the past few months. I can't exactly share everything on this blog, but I'm simply grateful. I used to whimper on the things I didn't have but lately, I've learned to embrace and appreciate the things I already do. how? first off, stop comparing. If you keep juxtaposing your life with others, there will never be an end. Can you read and look at my blog posts now? Well, you're already blessed that you have a pair of functioning eyes. Even if you have a high myopic degree like me, at least you can still see. Start off by looking at the little details like the eye example. You will realize how many things that you can be thankful of..

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
