Three's a Charm
See what I mean when i say my style is mood dependent? My last post was an entirely black getup and now I'm wearing a tricolored dress. I can't be bothered to wear pants (even jersey ones) as the Jakarta weather is becoming ridiculously hot for the past days. My usual shorts and blouse combo were a tad too casual, so a shift dress would be the key. This dress was one of my purchases from Paris. It's one of my easy piece to take out when lazy to think of an outfit. I like to wear it with bright colored flats for day or make it dinner appropriate with black accessories like so.

CORNELIA
there are times when I feel like returning to my old self; the Michelle that loves to wear neutrals. By neutral, I presume that head-to-toe black is part of the family. This P.A.N.G Janet dress was the latest addition to my LBD collection. During the past, my black dress collection seemed to lack daytime casual ones so having the Cornelia was definitely nice! Could've worn this with my swimming gear if I ever head to Bali. However, since I live in a bustling city, I took out my gladiator Choos that I've been neglecting for a long time to make the dress more city-appropriate.

Daily Regimens
the question 'what makeup and/or skincare do you use?' has popped out numerous times ever since I blogged. so here we go. As you read this post, you'll notice that I'm the mix and match girl whether it comes to makeup or skincare. I don't believe that in order to get maximum results, you have to use products from the same range. I've tried tons of skincare options and so far these mismatched brands I'm using works the best. please note that this is not a sponsored post. this is just a matter of sharing..

here's what I use for my daily skincare : I first wash my face with Cetaphil (this cleanser does wonders FYI). I cleanse and takeoff my makeup with this. Next, I apply SKII facial treatment lotion with a cotton pad and finish with either SKII UV Protection for day or Neutrogena Visibly Clear oil-free moisturizer for night. When I'm going out of the house, I put on Maybelline's BB Cream (in Fresh). It evens out skintone and for those who don't like sunscreen, this also packs a nice SPF 26.

Every 3-4 days, I scrub my face with St. Ives's Apricot Scrub and I also use SKII's facial treatment essence in place of my moisturizer. The essence wondrously brightens my skin. When the day is done, I use Chanel's eye makeup remover to get rid of my eyeliner.

When in comes to makeup, I like to keep it natural. My makeup procedure takes about 3mins (5mins if I feel like wearing mascara) every morning. I start by concealing my under eye circles with Bobbi Brown's concealer kit. I have it in 2 shades (beige and warm ivory) so I can mix it accordingly. I use Sephora's Concealer brush to even out the product around my eyes, then tap to blend them with my fingers. Invest in a good concealer brush as it makes your concealer go on 10x nicer and smoother on your face. After it the concealer has blended, I set it with ID Bare Minerals mineral veil. This helps the concealer to stay in place for the whole day.

Next, I line the top rim of my eyes with Maybelline's Unstoppable eyeliner (in brownie). I usually use Clinique's quickliner but I ran out the other day and this was the easiest to get. it's actually not bad at all (and it's only $6 or something?) I then smudge the eyeliner with the silver Dior brush. Last but definitely not the least, EYEBROWS ! I used to ignore my brows and they were unkempt. Now I regularly go for grooming sessions and I use Kate's eyebrow kit to make them nice and thick. If I feel like wearing mascara, I curl my lashes first then apply Chanel's Iminitable mascara in black.

there are lots of other makeup variations I do.. but I guess it's impossible to show every single one on this post. this post is the makeup that I apply on most days, including weekends :) I believe that good and healthy skin is the best foundation for any look.. also remember to buy concealer/foundation in the CORRECT shade. have a good weekend !

NOT EXACTLY INDEPENDENT
despite my lack of posting for the past week, I'm actually proud to say that I've been the most productive ever since I came back from my holiday two and a half months ago. One : I finally managed to redesign my blog layout after weeks of planning. Two : I managed to get the HTML coding done within a few hours (please don't compare me to those javascript geeks as I'm sure that they can make my layout within an hour). Three : finished editing all images from the photo jobs I've been accepting. Four : backed up my files onto an external hardrive just incase my 3 year old macbook pro decides to pass out. Five : cleaned up my email inbox. Six : managed to write a brand new profile for my blog, but google chrome crashed so whatever I wrote wasn't saved. and on top of all, I can still get new contents up on the blog. This was yesterday's outfit. Nothing Indonesian's related to celebrate the independence day though..
Before the pictures start rolling in, I'd like to wish Happy Independence Day Indonesia ! (better late than never right?) I hope and pray for the best for this country that I've spent most of my life in. Let there be no more corruption (not just government officials, but also tiny things in life like bragging that parking guy to get you a nice parking spot..) This corruption thing has become a bad habit and 'cultural' at times. Even I always tip the parking guys so I can always get a good spot at malls. I also wish that this country would move forward not backward. Make movies that are worth watching. TVs, please stop playing those highly-predictable-demoralizing soap operas. They suck (read : suck). and my last word of advice, please don't wear fake goods. I find this quite of a problem in Indonesia. Some magazines aren't even good role models when it comes to this. They feature mangga dua versions of Alexas the whole time. Amazingly, some people wear those replicas with confidence (even when the item looks horribly fake). There are lots of great bags and shoes in all sorts of price ranges to suit your budget! looking stylish isn't just about brands, it's HOW you wear it. Hey ! Even Olivia Palermo wears Zara! So next time if you or your friend is tempted to buy a fake, ask yourselves if the item will do you any good. Chances are, replicas will never have the same build quality as the real deal, thus it's only a matter of time before it falls apart and create a shameful image on you. I can probably write a whole essay on this. But I'm going to save that for another time...

DOT DOT DOT
They say the best way to test out a trend is to try it in small dozes. I must say that I agree to this. First time I tried to steer away from basic colors, I started buying colored bags before buying everything else in bright hues. Now, polkadot is not something I usually wear but seeing that they're making a comeback for fall, I thought I'd try out these mini polkadot shorts. I swapped them instead of my too-beaten-up 7 for all Mankind cut-off shorts. Turns out dots aren't as minnie mouse-ish as I thought it would look...
zara blazer, gap shirt, vintage 80s satin polkadot shorts, chanel bag
also got this resin necklace from Prita @ ShopNefertiti ! thanks so much for the surprise gift :)
pssst... if you haven't notice, I tweaked alot of my blog layout.. it's still in-the-making.. so pardon any bad appearances there are ! if you have inputs at the moments, save them later when the layout is totally finished :)

Goodbye Summer
it has been one of the best summers so far.. I may not have anymore proper school summer holidays, but I still feel the joy specially when most of my friends fly back to jakarta at this time of year.. i am sad that most of them have flown back to wherever they're studying though. Here's a post to all of the random summer fun I had. and because it's summer, it equals to FOOODDDDDD. if I had a smaller camera that goes with me wherever I go, there would be at least 3x more food photos than the ones uploaded here.

Detached Collar
I'm afraid that this will be another quick worded post... I've been pretty packed during office hours in order to catch up with last minute orders as the Ramadhan holidays are approaching. It's been a loooonnnnggggg week and I simply can't wait for the weekends to come. I usually take my time to write a post during my car rides. But with the 4-5hours of sleep a night, all I want to do is doze off while I'm on the road.. The lack of rest is also causing major mood swings and random pimples all over my face. I wore this outfit last weekend. Made the separate collar about 3 months ago but I've never took it out, so I figured it's time for it to be utilized.

Leather Obi
Lately I'm seeing alot of red/maroon combined with cream appearing in all sort of things. So after getting my hands on these satin shorts, I thought I'd concoct my own red-and-cream look. I'm starting to get bored of my usual looped belt to hold up my bottoms so I purchased these leather obi-style belts to vary my looks more.

White Lace and Denim
I made a visit to S.Oliver's corner at Metro Department Store at Gandaria City sometime last week. At first I wasn't very familiar with the German-originated brand but turns out I managed to snag a couple new pieces for my wardrobe ! I'm quite sure that this basic white shirt will be worn till it decays. and even so, I'll probably get another one to replace it. The cut is perfect and it's got the right amount of sheerness for the casual feel. I went for a summer-y look by wearing the shirt with white lace shorts from Club Couture and finished the look with a denim jacket..
I wish I can wear the hat out with this look.. My hats only come in use when I'm overseas (unfortunately...)
Other than this denim jacket, S.Oliver offers denim jeans in all sort of cuts (even boyfriend ones...) to suit your style.
my lips were THIS red because 1) I tried Benefit's benetint 2) I ate super-spicy noodles beforehand 3) Benefit + super-spicy noodles = about the same effect as MAC's Russian Red lipstick
somehow reminds me of Hermione's "extended" beaded pouch..except this one had a more rocker feel to it
close up of the lace texture..
