ON THE PORCH

I always manage to find 'new' items whenever I tidy up my closet. Like these shorts for example. I planned on creating an all white look but these striped linen shorts from my trip to Australia yeeeeaaaarrrrsssssss ago showed up. I tried them and magically, I could still fit. Didn't feel like carrying a big bag or even wear heels during my busy week so I opted for a clutch and my new favorite flats.

BUSY BEE

Been an extremely busy week for me and Christy since I got back from Singapore last Tuesday. I got my outfit photos done but I haven't even sort them (let alone edit).. These are two of the many photos Christy shot over the course of last week..more detailed shots to come soon..

SOMBER SKIES

When it rains, I usually don't think twice to go for black or gray. However, this bright pink dress from Vobee (a local brand I introduced you earlier here) has been sitting on my couch for over a week and I thought that it would be a good time to wear it with tights to counteract the somber skies.
Even for those who shy away from colors on a daily basis (ie. if you plan to wear red pants and you start thinking what others will think of you, then you're on the 'color-shy' boat), try pairing bright hues with black pieces. or for the lazy dressers, simply purchase clothing items that have a bright color and a black detail on it like what I picked out from Vobee's webstore here.

+SIX FIVE

Just more photos from my trip. It's difficult to get outfit photos taken when I don't have a tripod or someone reliable to shoot. The best solution would be going back to my old days where I shot from the mirror. lol. I'm back in Jakarta.. Got tons of emails to reply and I'm finding it hard to get out of the holiday blues even if it was a short trip.

SINGAPORE pt ONE

Yay! finally got my mood up to write a post. I am rarely lazy when it comes to writing my thoughts out but part of my long weekend plan other than flying off to Singapore and eating was to get a detox from all of my work. Blackberries off, out of the office automated replies. I've always thought that I could not live without the blackberry messenger or my laptop. But after awhile, having no one Ping-ing at me is a relieve.
and yes.. Blogging counts as a job for me too. You've probably heard this quote "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life" but in my opinion : work is work. 'wacky' clients are still 'wacky'. A job you love? well that's a blessing. Anyhow, here are some photos from my trip. I'm heading back tomorrow and still packing right now so more photos to come in Part Two !

C I E N N A

One of the perks of my job are the great clients I get to meet and who often turn into great friends in the end. One of them was Nathalie. We got to know each other from one of my other client and I still remember when she told me how her favorite wine was the inspiration behind her brand's name : Little Cienna. I shot this lookbook weeks ago and I'm publishing this on the blog at about the launching time of the collection..

FLIGHT

Just landed in Singapore.. and I can't wait to check my "to eat" list since I didn't have any time to go anywhere the last time I came here about two weeks ago. I now understand why sometimes school is better because I can have a scheduled holiday once every while.. but not anymore when I am working now. I think I am a really bad packer and to make things worst I packed in 10 minutes by simply grabbing the clothes that are on the top pile. We'll see how the outfits look and perhaps some shopping will help complete the look. Will try to update this blog whenever I have some spare moments. and all emails will be replied once I am back in town..

CAMOUFLAGE

Cargo pants and hints of brown against a greenery background? I felt like pulling off some sort of a camouflage outfit here. Although that has never been my intention of course.. After all, I pass through glass windows and white walls on a daily basis.. Not a rainforest..

MIX UPS

I love mixing casual with dressier pieces all in one look. The gold skirt looks pretty fancy for daytime so I figure that a button down shirt and some varsity jacket would tone down the glitzy-disco-feel nicely. As I was putting together this outfit, I remembered that the last time I wore the skirt was also for a casual ensemble. Perhaps my next challenge is to create an evening look out of it..

JUST KEEP SWIMMING...

I have been accustomed to the fact that 'swimsuit shopping' has never been a part of my shopping list nor it has been a part of my shopping budget in my whole life. And because of that, I never really search for the perfect bikini, tankini or any kind of swimmer designers. I buy one or two swimmers and I wear that until it is no longer wearable. You can count with your fingers how many times I dip into the pool every year anyway (that's ZERO for 2012.. not even a finger there)

However, when the Australian Fashion Week tweets and instagrams were all thrown into my feed, I was introduced to this one swimwear brand that I will never forget. That's We Are Handsome I'm talking about here. With a catchy brand name (it's We Are Handsome just in case if you thought my last sentence was a joke) and cant-steer-my-eyes-off prints, the Aussie label has made into my favorite designers to watch list.

LONG SHORT

A few things why I'm loving this skirt.. the long-short cut makes my leg look as if it stretched 10cm more. It's black so technically it still has some slimming effects.. Airy fabric is a fit for Jakarta's weather.. and, Lastly I can wear it a couple of ways. For today, I tilted the short part slightly to the side and perhaps I'll try to tilt it back to the middle on another day.

CLOSE YOUR EYES

They say eyes are the windows to your soul. But this editorial is quite contrary to that.. Instead of the usual fierce stare, models' eyes are in a closed state here.. yet I still find these photos a beauty...

PLUMSUIT

I just made up that title. Peplum + Playsuit = PLUMSUIT. I find that it sounds better than 'PeSuit' or 'PlayPlum' and so on. The fabric of the playsuit was pretty thick but good thing there was a 'ventilation slit' at the back. I wished that the rainy and windy season would come again so I could go back to layering...

TREETOPS

In terms of dressing cues, everything seems to be upside down lately. Before, I always preferred dark bottoms and a light-hued top but now, I like to go the other way around. Light shaded bottoms with a darker top. These white shorts make just about any of my outfit more summer-y and the hint of glitter in the fabric makes it even more special. Don't think that they're still available online but I did found an equally great light denim version of it here. Same brand, same cut, just different wash.

FLYING BACK

I've been having mixed feelings about Blogger's web redesign. Personally liking the clean & fresh interface with white background and pops of orange here and there. However, the site is total dope when I need to access the editing tools on my ipad/phone. Here's the story..
I've been learning to travel light and I've quite succeeded with that for this Singapore trip. One carry on luggage for a 5 day trip which includes 2 shoes and my huge amount of toiletries (*applause*). Now that the baggage is solved, I also try to reduce the stuff I lug over my shoulders (ie. bag, computer, airport duty free, etc). Usually this means that I leave my laptop home and take the iPad instead. BUT due to Blogger's uncooperative layout, I guess I will still have to take my laptop with me next time. Lucky I've got hubby's laptop for a couple of minutes here..here are some snaps from my phone and instagram for today.. I was going to upload them yesterday but with blogger's mobile-friendly-failure, I couldn't. I'm catching a plane back to jakarta in a moment. See ya !
