BURGUNDY

I think I'm going to start a mini series in my blog starting from this post. and that series would be on the white shirt. As most people would agree, a crisp button down white shirt is a classic and it serves many purposes. Even for myself, the white shirt is like my daytime version of the little black dress. For today, I'm pairing it with my first ever maxiskirt courtesy of Pretty Young Things! (and today is also one of those rare sandals for outfit of the day ;)

SUNDAYS

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

MIDRIFF

Some outfit update for this week. I haven't worn these leather shorts for about six months. Funny because six months ago, I wore these high-waisters at least once a week. Thanks to those over-worn days, the leather has become really supple and I no longer feel like I'm bounded in tight leather. Paired it with a slight crop top which reminded me of Britney Spears' baby one more time days..
I find it interesting how trends are recycled every now and then. Remember those cut off shirts Britney always sports? Well, the midriff-show trend has returned but this time it's far more sophisticated (check out the Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2012 reference at the end of this post.. no word description necessary). Back then, everyone showed off their unique belly rings.. but now, it's the upper abs area that shows. Like the trend or not, it's still 'friendlier' for girls who are not blessed with a flat belly (.. like me). Anyhow, I'm off to do some more errands now.. Happy belated thanksgiving if you're celebrating :)

ON THE RUNWAY...

sorry for the lame amount of updates, and it seems that this is going go on for a while (especially when I haven't even bought a new camera remote!) anyhow, here are some runway photos from the Lasalle Debutante show last Wednesday where NINE-TWELVE and pro.tech.teur made their first debut. I came in to the show pretty late as I was helping out backstage. Thank Lord for my 14cm Marnis or I wouldn't be able to get these photos amongst the standing people I had to squeeze myself around..I don't have much time to do a long write up, so enjoy these 18 photos (.. and more coming soon!)..

SPARE MOMENTS

sitting infront of tumblr and bloglovin with toffee nut latte on a saturday morning is pure joy.. even if I only have 20 minutes for this. By far, November has been one of the best months in 2011. I wish I could say that all the great happy feelings could last forever, but that would be rather unrealistic. Life is full of ups and downs but it's up to you whether you want to go down or way up with it. Nevertheless, I hope that this good spirits will last longer..

WHITE SUIT

the black blazer and black pants have been my favorite combination for long.. and now, it's time to switch the head-to-toe white version. I lost my camera remote, these were the photos shot with the remote before it disappeared. I have to buy a new one if I want to keep on blogging my outfit photos..

ESSENTIALS

Jakarta Fashion Week has officially begun on Saturday! Sad to say that I won't be able to make it to most of the shows due to my job (and my need to stay fit....) But I'm equally excited to read twitter and web updates that will be posted during the week. I thought it would be fun to do some sort of 'fashion week essentials' type of post for the Sunday... ps. even if this is dedicated for fashion week, most of the items I list have become my daily essentials too !

FLOWER NUMBER

after coming across this Céline flower number, I think I've rediscovered my childhood love for floral prints. I remember wearing those tiny floaty dresses with white stockings and bright colored shoes whenever there was some party to go to. Fast forward till today, Walk in Closet showed me some of their new collection and I immediately fell for this top. Floral prints do have a tendency of being marked as a "summer" piece. But, I personally think that they can make great transitional and even winter pieces with the right styling. I was getting bored of my usual blazer, so I dug out my closet for this lightweight trench coat. Trench coats in Jakarta? Well, it's probably not the most practical thing to wear but that day I knew that I was going to be inside air-conditioned rooms anyway. So yeah...

WOMAN ON TOP

How many times have you heard people say "the world is a small place"? Lots I assume? I don't care whether or not you agree to the saying, but I always feel that whoever I meet, there's always at least one person we both know. I first found out about this local brand that specializes in women's workwear, Working Hour(s), through a multi-brand webstore. Months later, I was introduced to the founders of the brand through the lovely people at Tea Label. Turns out they all went to the same high school (see what I mean when the world IS a small place?) and little did I know, I would be teaming up with Working Hour(s) for their 'Woman on Top' collection for their store's grand opening!

The idea behind the Working Hour(s) is to change people's mindset where working apparels are boring (think black, white, blazer, straight pants combos you see in office towers). And so, they wanted to offer chic and sophisticated workwear that can be worn for other occasions too. This time, the brand looked up to powerful women such as Michelle Obama, Oprah, etc. as their inspirations. They wanted to create pieces for women who have style, yet have a power of their own. Working Hour(s) has collaborated with a local jewelry line, Tea Label for timeless and elegant accessories to complete the whole look.

SWEET DREAMS

I am often questioned "what do you think of the growth of fashion in Indonesia?" during interviews and my answers have always been something like "yes.. [insert some shallow justification here]". I've never really given much thought to the question until just last night. Yes, market and business-wise, fashion is quite at its peak at the moment. The easiest way to justify that would be the growing number of online retailers. From Facebook sellers, blogshops, and even to webstores, sometimes I feel that I may not need to get up from my couch to get what I want (even my contact lens solution is bought from an online retail). One of my latest online discoveries was Dream Shop. Specializing in casual wear, Dream Shop carries a selection of tops, dresses, and bottoms for girls who have that feminine and sweet vibe. I personally choose some floral pieces for another print-mix look..

MUSTARD

I keep pressing the 'backspace' button as I'm trying to write something for this post so I might as well skip all the writing for today. These are the last set of outfit for my Debenhams Blogger Styling Competition. please do vote for me if you like my looks (instructions at the end of the post). My plan for the weekend : relax, sleep in, attend some (more...) weddings, read books, and enjoy my favorite comfort foods. What's your plan? :)

JUST BEFORE DECEMBER

Gonna debut my first video editting work on this blog.. Time flies like I've never experienced before and I haven't done any outfit photos for the week because heading out early and going home late is what I've been doing for the past weeks (including weekends...) So I'll share the video (at the end of the post) and these behind the scenes images I've had for a long time..
