Tim Walker's usually the master of the extravagant romantic fashion photographs, yet I find this November editorial from Harper's Bazaar Indonesia just as enchanting. Showcasing a series of Indonesian designer's works, Michael Pondaag styled this shoot using cutting-edge safety pin tops and heavy-blinged skulls while juxtaposing it with soft and feminine makeup.. See, Halloween doesn't always equal to tarty or gruesome get-ups right?

DARK ROMANCE
No costumes or anything like that jumping out of my blog on Halloween (in fact, I've never been a fan of Halloween even though dressing up is something I enjoy doing). Most "image clipping" blogs I follow have started posting their own halloween spook-boards (..spooky moodboards, a term I created out of a random conversation with my friend the other day).. So I thought I'd post my personal selection for today.

BALANCING ACT
balancing a cardigan on your shoulders isn't exactly an easy task to keep up for a whole day, especially when it's not super-oversized. Amazingly, I managed to keep it on like so for an 8 hour period. This satin top is THE ultimate perfect top for me.. Neutral in color, smoooottthhhhh satin with a some nice detailing with zippers on the side.. Topped the outfit with some tie up pointed shoes from Louis Vuitton's last fall season..

GOLD LAMÉ
Despite the sauna-ish weather here, I still love growing out my jeans collection. So far I only have standard classic shades such as dark indigo, white, black, etc. and a red pair. When I saw these brown-burgundy ones at Debenhams, I immediately grabbed them. The fit is great and the color is perfect for this fall/winter season (even though there's no fall/winter here)..

DEBENHAMS INDONESIA : BLOGGERS STYLING COMPETITION
It's been ages since the last time I joined an online competition. And here I am with Debenhams Indonesia gearing up for a styling comp! So, for this, I had the chance to pick three pieces from Debenhams' house brands and I simply had to style it accordingly as my regular outfit posts.. Here are the three looks I've made (more deatiled photos will be uploaded in my upcoming posts!!)

LE PRINTEMPS @NIKICIO
I still have a clear vision of the first Nikicio Mixté show I went to one and a half year ago. One thing I find remarkable from Nina, the designer, is her vision on clothes. One of them being timeless. She says, “I want to challenge the notation of a fashion world. no trends. no seasons. no fads. my clothes have to be able to be worn & last forever."
Clothes with no season/trends? Sounded quite impossible to me especially when at a glance, Nikicio Mixté seems to have an edgy and 'street' vibe. These styles are currently "in" but will it still be "in" in the years to come?
Nevertheless, Nina proved me wrong. I have a couple pieces from her different lines, and for every single one of those clothes I owned, there isn't one that I get bored of. It came to me that the "edge" comes from the styling. When the pieces are examined one by one, they're more like updated classics. And with updated classics, any vibe evoked is possible. Thus, making Nikicio not only ageless, but also versatile.
For their Mixté Le Printemps 2012, Nina created a collection with a laid back skater girl with effortless style at her back of her mind. A nomad, light traveller - a collection for the coolest people with the coolest style.

AND THE CLOCK TICKS....
I don't know if you believe in zodiac facts, but I do. Not those daily prophecies, but those personality readings that people like to retweet from time to time. For Geminis like me, we are described as those who are restless. Indeed, true. I can't seem to get my brain to sleep even when I Really want to. When I fell sick for this past few days (thanks for all the get well soon messages by the way!), I can't help but feel like a bummer. That is, unproductive. Now, I don't have much new photos but I do have these three for the moment. My weekend is going to be a filled one yet again and I'm in one of those 'so much to do, so little time' momentum yet again... If I could be granted with one luxury item, time is that thing that I desire..

NAVY & BLACK
Am not usually the type of person who gets sick easily (I think it's been 4 years since the last time I remember being in this state).. but after a week of hard-core (..but fun!) work, I fell miserably-ill last night and stayed in bed for the whole day today. After hours of sleeping, I could finally do some sort of light activity and blogging's the first thing on my head (emails, I'm on to you for the next thing..) The detached collar I wore here is really coming into hand.. Because of the tropic weather, layering 2 shirts is just not practical.. so the collar does wonders ! it adds that preppy touch without the feel that you're in a sauna.. ps. navy and black are my current favorite color combos...

EVERY GRAIN OF SAND
looks like I'll be delaying the full version of the "missed you" post. I've been having 3-5 hour sleeps for the past week and tonight is the only night I can recharge with a 9 hour one.. In the mean time, enjoy this editorial I picked up the other night. Lately, there seems to be alot of heavy, couture-ish, high fashion editorials, so looking at this simple one is refreshing.

MISSED YOU
been having some of my busiest days lately.. I don't think I've been this occupied since the last time I sat in one of my university classes. Balancing a day-work and a this blog isn't exactly easy, but I am doing my best to keep it updated. Nevertheless, I'm happy that I have a job that I loveeeee :) Couldn't come to the Nikicio show either this morning, as I had some last-minute office errands.. I heard from the others that it was really good ! I missed out on alot of events lately, but I'm sure there will be more awesome ones in the future ! here's a little sneak peak of an "old" outfit that I haven't got a chance to publish. I will publish the whole set on Monday (..hopefully) have a sublime weekend everyone..

LE CARRÉ
I have a couple of "life-stories" to share before I talk about my outfit for the Paris Mon Ami event from my previous post.. God knows how thankful I am at this point of my life. I feel that I am truly blessed by all the great opportunities and occasions that I've encountered for the past few months. I can't exactly share everything on this blog, but I'm simply grateful. I used to whimper on the things I didn't have but lately, I've learned to embrace and appreciate the things I already do. how? first off, stop comparing. If you keep juxtaposing your life with others, there will never be an end. Can you read and look at my blog posts now? Well, you're already blessed that you have a pair of functioning eyes. Even if you have a high myopic degree like me, at least you can still see. Start off by looking at the little details like the eye example. You will realize how many things that you can be thankful of..

EVENT// HERMÈS, PARIS MON AMI
When I found out that I was gonna be free on October 8, I immediately said 'YES' to Dien's offer for hosting Hermès' Paris Mon Ami event last weekend. Held at Pacific Place's South Lobby, the semi-outdoor function quickly filled up with guests decked out in colorful attires along with the brand's classic Carré. beholdddddd for the biggest photo post ever on this blog..

Back to Summer
Looking at the spring shows makes me want to take out all of the bright pieces I have even though I have been back to my fall-hue roots lately. My hands picked out this combo of red, orange, and hot pink altogether. And because I didn't have much time to rethink of which clothing item to replace, I went out anyway..

PARIS MON AMI
When I bring up the question ; "what clothing or accessory do you think is the most versatile item out there?", answers such as a white shirt, a pair of jeans, or a trench coat for the winter-clads usually start popping out. It IS true that those three classics can be reworn over and over. But, there is also one more thing that is just as (..or perhaps more) versatile : a scarf.
When it comes to scarves, Hermès' le carré is one those iconic ones. first made in 1937, the 90x90 cm scarf requires about 450,000 meters of fine silk and 1,500 - 2,000 hours of labor to finish. The Carré may seem grandma-ish to some. But, I'm sure that after seeing what these four girls have to offer, the scarf will no longer feel ancient to you. Remember J'aime Mon Carré from last year? Well, this year Hermès has launched another one of their interactive online fanzine campaign known as Paris Mon Ami. Set in the magical city of Paris, four 'IT' girls from different backgrounds gathered together to showcase a fresh take on the classic carré.

REWINDING : JAPAN
As always, I had trouble sleeping last night and I suddenly had flashbacks of my trip to Japan in 2003.. So I thought, better write than just sit in bed for doing nothing. My obsession with the Japanese culture takes me back to those days where I was an anime freak. Yes, me an anime freak. All thanks to Doraemon, that magic blue cat who seemed to have every imaginable gadget to save Nobita's life. Then I had a period where I was into Cardcaptor Sakura.. then eventually moving into the gothic lolita Harajuku girls.. and so on.. I find the Japanese very unique. They are one of a kind. I like how they maintain their traditions while being open to modernism at the same time.

LUCKY EIGHT AND NINE
august and september were two amazing months for me. I just wanted to put together a little (.. or maybe a large image-loaded) recap post of my posts from those 61 days. Also included some photos that never made it to the blog here :) It's been a loooooonnggg and tiring (..but productive) monday for me, as much as I want to write some thoughts that has been going on in my head, my brain constantly tells me to "get a break" - before I end up sick again. Have a blessed October everyone !
