HOW TO WRITE AN ENDORSEMENT/COLLAB OFFER EMAIL (AND GET AN ACTUAL REPLY!)

Ever wondered why the bloggers you email never reply? Well, it's no surprise to me how many underestimate the power of a well written (... or typed should I say?) email AND the power of good manners. Everyday.... I get at least one email that is literally like an SMS (aka 160 characters or less). Dude ! You're in for a business proposition. Would you seriously write a 160 lettered business proposal?

I dont know about every school curriculum in the whole world... but I think that every student at some point of their education has been thought that an essay contains 3 parts : introduction, content/reasoning/proposal, and conclusion/closing. Well, your business emails should too. Try some of the tips below see what you might have missed...

1) INTRODUCE YOURSELF
Well, unless you are Barack Obama, chances are that you are not known. Open up the email by saying hi & tell them your name , your company (include a website and/or social media account address if needed) and a little bit about your brand (stick to no more than 5 sentences).

Short & concise is your goal. Get to the point quickly. Everybody is busy!

2) STATE YOUR PROPOSAL
this part is a bit of a grey area as it depends what kind of work you're looking at. but, overally... in this part of the email, you should state :
- what the project is about
- how you want to work together
- duration of project (ie. long term campaign or one off instagram posts , etc)
- any other important details you might want to include (ie. if you're doing a hair dye campaign, you might want to mention that a hair chemical process will be made)

3) ASK THE RATES/COMPENSATION
Okay, this may vary slightly from person to person. But in my point of view, I think that it is always better to ask ahead if the company needs to prep a budget or payment or whatever for the influencer.
You do not want to give the influencer an impression that you are a taking advantage of them for free. Make them feel VALUED & HONORED. It takes a great deal of work to keep those follower numbers on a roll !

You might even be surprised that they may not charge at all !

4) EXTRAS
Attach your brand book or attach a powerpoint presentation of your proposal will also make communicating faster & easier. If you don't have a brand book, then make your that your Instagram is NOT locked or that you have an updated website of your newest arrivals.

We don't like it if we don't know what we are working for (it's kind of like enrolling ourself into a dodgy job position....) and sometimes we don't bother requesting your catalog in an email reply! So prep everything for less back to back email questionings.

On a side note, putting your Instagram to private mode also looses your potential buyers. It's like having a physical store at the mall yet you are putting the "close" sign during opening hours. No need to think about the rise of your following cult, instead... Think how much more profit you can make..

5) CLOSING
Say thank you (always!) and attach a proper signature footer where the email reader can easily spot your contact details (ie. phone number).
You can also attach social media account details here for an easy reference.

6) ANY SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM IS AN INFORMAL METHOD OF COMMUNICATION
sending a proposal through Instagram DMs or Twitter ? Don't be a bloody idiot okay....
Make an effort to email and IF urgent, you may POLITELY dm or comment to notify that there is n important email you sent.

Even when you DM, write as if it was a proper email too...

7) GRAMMAR CHECK
Write in a language you are fluent and comfortable with. It is always better to write well in your native language than to write like a kindergarten in a language you're not fluent in.

8) CORRECT NAMES
Small detail but always get this right ! It shows your professionalism. My name isn't easy to spell for most of Indonesians, but they can easily check my blog/social media for the correct spelling. And never ever copy paste your email template but forget to change the name of the recipient.

9) MANNERS MAKE'TH MAN
Say please, thank you. No matter where your deal is going. If the person has mentioned her price and it doesn't suit your budget, simply reply a thank you email :) You're not working with her today, but you might in the future.

I'm sure that you'll get better responses after following these steps :) and perhaps if that person didn't reply after multiple tries, maybe he/she is simply not interested or busy. It's time to move on and well, don't give up just yet :)
