NOT EXACTLY INDEPENDENT

despite my lack of posting for the past week, I'm actually proud to say that I've been the most productive ever since I came back from my holiday two and a half months ago. One : I finally managed to redesign my blog layout after weeks of planning. Two : I managed to get the HTML coding done within a few hours (please don't compare me to those javascript geeks as I'm sure that they can make my layout within an hour). Three : finished editing all images from the photo jobs I've been accepting. Four : backed up my files onto an external hardrive just incase my 3 year old macbook pro decides to pass out. Five : cleaned up my email inbox. Six : managed to write a brand new profile for my blog, but google chrome crashed so whatever I wrote wasn't saved. and on top of all, I can still get new contents up on the blog. This was yesterday's outfit. Nothing Indonesian's related to celebrate the independence day though..

Before the pictures start rolling in, I'd like to wish Happy Independence Day Indonesia ! (better late than never right?) I hope and pray for the best for this country that I've spent most of my life in. Let there be no more corruption (not just government officials, but also tiny things in life like bragging that parking guy to get you a nice parking spot..) This corruption thing has become a bad habit and 'cultural' at times. Even I always tip the parking guys so I can always get a good spot at malls. I also wish that this country would move forward not backward. Make movies that are worth watching. TVs, please stop playing those highly-predictable-demoralizing soap operas. They suck (read : suck). and my last word of advice, please don't wear fake goods. I find this quite of a problem in Indonesia. Some magazines aren't even good role models when it comes to this. They feature mangga dua versions of Alexas the whole time. Amazingly, some people wear those replicas with confidence (even when the item looks horribly fake). There are lots of great bags and shoes in all sorts of price ranges to suit your budget! looking stylish isn't just about brands, it's HOW you wear it. Hey ! Even Olivia Palermo wears Zara! So next time if you or your friend is tempted to buy a fake, ask yourselves if the item will do you any good. Chances are, replicas will never have the same build quality as the real deal, thus it's only a matter of time before it falls apart and create a shameful image on you. I can probably write a whole essay on this. But I'm going to save that for another time...

Hahaha! You're right about the fake goods, Michelle. Asians (except Japanese mebbe) are big suckers for fake branded goods.

However, I notice that year by year the trend changes. I'd call it "the trickle down effect" instead of fake, borrowing from Miranda Pristley's character from Devil Wears Prada. For example, my tosca blue Stradivarius bag. First I saw that color on Prada bag. Then Braun Buf. Then Stradiv. Then those cheap bags at Mangga Dua. It's not about trying to look like you're wearing a particular brand, but emulating a particular look. Those with less money want to be fashionable, too. Similar to The Venetian at Las Vegas, it's a nice substitute for Americans who can't travel to Venice. Or Starbak instead of Starbucks. lol.

Excellent gap to fill for local designers, I guess! ^__^

Oh dear, I love that statement (not about the brand, its about how you wear it). I hates replica too. Better to buy Local brands than a fake one. I bet even Local brand also pirated.

But anyhow, lets starts from our self ;) GO Local brand ;)

this post is special! I totally agree with you about that faux thingy. I even spotted a fashion-blogger wear a faux good and mention the brand as if its authentic (I'm 99,9% sure that it IS fake bcause, like you said, its horribly fake! loll)
oh, and I have no idea that you're a freelance photographer! (such a bad reader I am)
anw, I'd be craving for your pair of heels!

Well, there are some of us out there, who are sitting on a black and pink blog layout for the past three years. And trying to run a serious fashion blog with a pink she-devil in the template. Ahem!
So congrats that you got the layout done. It's all neat and means business.

I love your outfit. I am, right now busy tearing my hair out wondering what to wear to the last day of the fashion week. I hope I come up with a winner like your outfit.

Have a great weekend, and Happy (Belated) Independence Day!
